​Known for their ability to blend adventurous musical arrangements with undeniable pop-rock hooks, Phourist & the Photons have consistently captivated audiences seeking fresh and innovative sonic experiences, both in their hometown of Louisville and far beyond.
 

The quartet includes Andrew Critchelow (electric guitar, ambient sounds), Scott Boice (drums, drum machines, ambient sounds), Jailynn Noel (bass, harmony vocals, strings) and Nick Hill (songwriting, vocals, piano, guitar, ambient sounds).

The band is a juried member of the Kentucky Performing Arts Directory and has an abundance of touring and live performance experience, playing all over in places such as New York, Nashville, St. Louis and more. Some notable performances include opening for acclaimed rock band Moon Taxi, multiple appearances at WFPK’s Waterfront Wednesday, performing with acts such as Lissie and The Weeks, and an appearance at Bourbon and Beyond, an annual music festival that has drawn around 140,000 attendees. Other notable venues include Great Day Live, KY Crafted - The Market, Exit/In, Old Forester’s Paristown Hall, Headliners Music Hall, Balcony TV, Speed Art Museum, Southern Ohio Museum and Cultural Center, and 91.9 WFPK’s Live Lunch.

Phourist & the Photons have had a great deal of airplay on independent radio and streams in the hundreds of thousands, with their top song being the 2023 single, “Pilot.” In 2022, the group won the Appalachian Arts and Entertainment Award for Best Pop and were nominated for a Louisville Music Award in the Avant Garde/Jazz category in 2017.
